Of a woman who like many of us suffers psychic dismemberment at the hands of the Old Father, and wanders into the deep woods in search of herself...
Nothing but the other-than-human world and the wisdom of her wounds to guide her as she navigates the meaningful but often confusing path of the "Heroine’s Journey" — women’s archetypal journey of initiation into wholeness by descending away from the one-sided masculine topside world into the mysteries of their true nature.
Journey with her as she surrenders to the Unknown, receives support from mysterious beings, and evolves through the archetypes of maiden, mother, and crone on her way to growing back her own hands….
Modern women are in the midst of an initiation...
We hear the call to slow down, to stop extracting our energy and bodies for the sake of production, and to re-member the deeper parts of ourselves that we starved or entirely abandoned in order to feel safe and good enough in an overly masculine world…
Our creative, instinctual, yearning-for-love parts are calling, scratching softly (or loudly) at the door of our lives, asking us to let go of that which no longer serves us, and descend down and in to the dark, gritty mystery of our archetypal feminine ground, which mystifies us as much as it calls us inward…
Whether it is:
letting go of a job that no longer serves you,
slowing down to prioritize rest or play,
finally diving deep into a creative calling,
or embracing a long-suppressed yearning for love...
We feel scared to answer the call and walk into the unknown…
But as we continue gripping to the safe, familiar purgatory of the known, something within no longer allows us to continue the self-denial that we have tolerated all our lives...
We find ourselves more sensitive, more teary, more tired, more in-touch with the fears and desires that we were once too numb on autopilot to feel...
I believe that women — being the intuitive, between-world creatures that we instinctually are — are at the forefront of humanity’s mythic story:
That we are being asked to embody, through the micro-myth of our personal lives, the universal transformation that humanity-at-large is being invited to step into.
The ways of the extractive-masculine are no longer serving the world, and we feel this truth in our tired female bodies which long for a deep exhale...
The catch is:
the extractive-masculine now lives within us....
We are being invited to heal this primordial wound from the inside-out, allowing the wisdom-power of the female body (as earth/woman/womb/soul) to spring forth and birth a new way.
We have successfully proven ourselves in the realms of independence and masculine-creativity, but now the next stage of feminine consciousness is pressing into this world — the stage of sacred interdependency: the masculine-ego in sacred union with the feminine soul.
From exhausting over-functioning to allowing our bodies and desires to set the pace...
From rigid hyper-independence to opening to the profound strength in vulnerability and opening to receive…
From avoiding or forcing a creative calling to humbly submitting to how the life of the Spirit wants to be birthed through us...

The Journey
In this 3-part storytelling journey, we will explore two folktales, The Handless Maiden and The Madness of Mis, to illuminate the often confusing but meaningful initiation journey that many women are struggling through today: leaving the world of the extractive-masculine behind to re-member the wisdom, creativity, and ease of your true nature. Opening to the numinous power of the stories' symbols and archetypes, you will be guided to "hear" how the stories are distinctly guiding you at this junction of your personal life story. Woven throughout the journey we will explore post-feminist perspectives on the next evolution of female consciousness — what comes after the stage of independence and masculine creativity for modern women? You are "free" to work and achieve in the world, but do you feel free within your body and psyche to rest, to play, to love, and to receive?

In this online gathering we will hear the story of the Madness of Mis and listen to how the story's symbolism is speaking distinct, prescriptive wisdom for your life. We will explore various archetypes and symbols of the feminine, paying special attention to the multifaceted, positive nature of the Maiden within, practicing archetypal somatics to unlock repressed powers in the female psyche.

In this online gathering we will continue working with archetypes and symbols, paying special attention to the Crone and the symbolism of the Aquarian Age — the age of the water-bearer — and what it means for you to "carry water" into a thirsty world. This gathering is primarily for “emergent discussion”, in which we, myself included, will make ourselves students of what is collectively emerging in the field via questions and sharing on what the stories, symbols, and archetypes brought up for us along this 3-part experience. This will also be a time to inquire more about Brielle’s upcoming 5-month mythopoetic “Heroine’s Journey” program which begins in November.

Brielle Elise, MA — Scholar of myth, storyteller, Transformational Coach for women (PCC, ICF)
Through a combination of storytelling, somatic practice, and transformational coaching, I midwife women in the archetypal Heroine’s Journey, helping them unlearn patterns of over-functioning and hyper-independence so that they can return to the un-striving creativity, wisdom and bliss of their true nature. I draw from 8+ years and 3000+ hours of 1:1 coaching and transformative seminar-experience, post-graduate education in the mythopoetic imagination, 10 years of study in Vedic spirituality, and the salt and grit of my own Heroine’s Quest into the paradoxical mysteries of the deep feminine. The inspiration of all my work is to advance women's collective consciousness into what I see as the next stage: sacred interdependence, the union of opposites — masculine with feminine, this world with otherworld, ego with soul — so that we can be water-bearing women of the Aquarian Age, carrying water into a thirsty world through a subversive feminine ground of being in our work, play, and love.
